**Keyhole Markup Language** (KML) is an XML notation for expressing geographic annotation and visualization within two-dimensional maps and three-dimensional Earth browsers ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/keyhole_markup_language)).

The KML format is an [Open Geospatial Consortium](https://www.ogc.org/standards/kml) standard. The KML format was originally developed for use with Google Earth (which was originally named Keyhole Earth Viewer).
