### Public Beta Feature

This documentation covers a feature currently in Public Beta. Access is available to anyone interested in building personalized experiences for their end-users.

This feature is subject to the [Personalization API (Self-Service) Public Beta End user License Agreement](https://location.foursquare.com/legal/terms/personalization-apis-self-service-eula/).

You can specify the locale by setting the `Accept-Language` HTTP header in your request. Alternatively, you can add a `locale=XXX` parameter to your request but HTTP header specification is preferred. We currently support the following locales:

| Language | Locale Code |
| --- | --- |
| English | `en` (default) |
| Spanish | `es` |
| French | `fr` |
| German | `de` |
| Italian | `it` |
| Japanese | `ja` |
| Thai | `th` |
| Turkish | `tr` |
| Korean | `ko` |
| Russian | `ru` |
| Portuguese | `pt` |
| Indonesian | `id` |

Note: If nothing is specified, for geographical entities (e.g., city names), we'll fall back to using the language that's most popular in the country for that venue.

Foursquare also supports many country-specific subcategories in our venue categories. "Supported Countries" are listed in our [Categories table](https://docs.foursquare.com/places/docs/categories) and includes the ISO-2 code countries names where that category is supported.
