Steps to Make Your First Foursquare API Call

  1. Create a Foursquare developer account and a project in our Developer Console: foursquare.com/developers/signup.
  2. Follow the "Let's get started" steps to create a new project.
  3. In the console, create a Service API Key under your project's API Settings page.
  4. Paste that key into any of our Places API Reference pages to make Places Pro calls on behalf of your project. Or, create a managed user and then use their token to make calls attributed to them.
  5. You can make 500 Places Pro calls per month for free! To access our Places Premium endpoints, you will need to configure your billing in the Developer Console and purchase credits. You can also turn on Auto Recharge so that we will top off your credits when they fall below $10.
